Published:August 23rd, 2010

The Growth Hormone Research Society is a forum where ideas on all aspects of growth hormone are exchanged. Founded in 1992, GRS has members from more than 30 countries. Clinicians, scientists, students and educators are working to advance and disseminate research and information about topics related to the growth hormone.

There is also a sister society for IGF research and the two societies publish a common journal. The mission of both societies is to promote scientific research and advancements in the field of growth hormone and insulin-like growth factors. They are academic independent, non-profit societies that evaluate advances in diagnostics and therapeutics of disorders related to growth hormone and IGF.

There is a strong correlation between growth hormone and insulin like growth factors. IGF-1 is a hormone secreted from the liver in response to human growth hormone. The effects of HGH are due to IGF-1 which acts on its target cells.

The Fifth International Congress of the two societies will take place in New York, between 3 and 7 of October, 2010.
