As we age, our bodies produce less human growth hormone, but if we do not sleep enough, we produce even less. Women have more sleeping problems than men, it has been estimated that the average woman sleeps less than 7 hours per night during the work week.

A study conducted by the University of Chicago used participants that do not have sleep problems, but whose sleep was disturbed using audio stimulation. Their deep sleep was reduced by 90 minutes, and although their slept the entire length of time, they could not get into or stay in the deep sleep phase.

The results of the study showed that their production of human growth hormone was decreased by 25%. The study was conducted on men, but according to other studies done by the same university, 26% of women have trouble falling asleep, 58% experience pain during the night, 24% wake up too early and 24% do not get enough sleep. The numbers of men having the same problems were 18 to 36% lower.

It has been assumed that sleep is more disturbed in women because of monthly hormonal changes, pregnancy and menopause.

The reduced production of human growth hormone during sleep can lead to other health problems such as cardiovascular disease and weight gain.

Nutritional supplements can help with getting sleep under control. HGH releasers and HGH supplements can also offer support for improving human growth hormone secretion. A full seven to eight hours uninterrupted sleep will ensure secretion of HGH and give your body time to do the tissue maintenance required to maintain a healthy body.
